The only problem is, most people don’t dig very far to find good content. They usually look at the first few search results on a page, identify a good source and link to it. Almost any website that is host to at least some quality content can usually get to at least a domain authority of 10. Sitting on top of the Google SERP ensures that you’ll get clicks—lots of clicks. More than that, it’s an instant credibility boost in most people’s eyes.
Unlock your business potential
With more people searching for products and services “near me,” there’s never been a better moment to optimize your digital footprint for local customers. Other kinds of SERP features do not have keyword ranking positions. Because they’re extra elements that aren’t based on standard ranking factors.
- You can search the keyword yourself and review the first page.
- This is often done through social means (facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc).
- Besides meeting search intent, there are a handful of simple things you can do to reduce your site’s bounce rate.
- Videos complement textual content and create a more immersive browsing experience, encouraging users to explore your site further.
- A good name should be engaging, distinctive, and have a high search potential.
Focus on on-page SEO
Domain authority is a metric that Google used to use a few years ago to rate the reputability of a website. Google stopped posting this number and it’s page-specific counterpart—page authority—a while back, but in one shape or another, it’s still clearly part of their algorithm. High volume keywords can undoubtedly be valuable for your SEO strategy, but your team should also take a look at lower volume — and even zero volume — keywords. Though these keywords garner a lower number of searches each month, the people placing these searches are often further down funnel and ready to complete a purchase.
Choose where and when ads appear
If fact, some say you should never try to build any links manually yourself…ever! I did a podcast interview with Fraser Cain a while ago, where he discusses building a six figure website without ever “building” a SEO Anomaly single link. Marcus Sheridan also stressed the same point in my last podcast interview with him. A backlink is simply a “hyperlink” to another website or page.
This means it would be easier to rank for than the keyword, business ideas (example provided below). Domain Authority and Page Authority are terms used by SEOmoz.org to quantify how authoritative a site or page is overall. This goes back to my example of getting a link from CNN.com being more important than getting a link from a weak site. If you can get a link from a high page authority page, this is likely to help your ranking. By simply optimizing the titles of your articles, you could see the difference between almost no traffic to lots of free Google traffic.
